If you’ve ever been in Canada on July 1st, you may have experienced “Canada Day” with fireworks, picnics, parades, and barbecues. What’s up with all the festivities? What is Canada Day and why the celebration? I’ll answer that today, at least historically speaking, in an audiobook excerpt from The Mystery of History Volume IV, titled, “The Dominion of Canada.” Let me add, I think the Canadians have good reason for this national holiday—because unlike most nations, they earned their independence from another country after minor rebellions, without entering a long, drawn-out major war. In the context of world history, that is something to celebrate! Here’s the story suitable for all ages, but for length, this is probably best for middle and older students, as well as adults. To all my northern neighbors, Happy Canada Day! (“Canada Day” photo taken July 1, 2007 by Nikki through a CC 2.0 License.)
